"The bench mark is a disk set in SE corner of concrete planter, located north of the north set of steps leading to Scripps Institution of Oceanography Storehouse (Building T42), 53 m (175 ft) NE of bench mark 7 1958 in the east area of the maintenance yards, 1.61 m (5.3 ft) east of the SE corner of planter, 0.21 m (0.7 ft) west of the west wall of the storehouse, and 1.07 m (3.5 ft) above ground level."
